Are you pattern phobic? Trying to keep it simple by sticking with solids?. Nothing says boring like a room without a little pattern. Nature is full of pattern. What would our world look like without the play of light and pattern in shadows - in the sky, on the water and over the ground we walk on? We'd trip alot! We associate certain patterns with memories- good and bad. This is why some people dislike plaid, paisley and stripes. By the way, I was lukewarm on the DB pattern on my Dooney & Burke handbag- it's definitely neutral and goes with almost everything summer. Ever since my daughter gasped in happiness the day I brought it home and said "MOM! YOU GOT A NEW BAG FROM DAVE & BUSTERS?" Of course I played along and told her that you have to order the BIG drink to get the bag. Now I love this bag, because the pattern reminds me that for sure, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and more importantly, we don't know what patterns to like or dislike if we have no frame of reference.

Upcoming holiday weekend
With Labor Day right around the corner, it is a great excuse to induldge in great desserts. Here is the healthiest and simpliest way to take care of your dairy rich ice cream craving, WITHOUT the dairy! Freeze a few bananas, whip them in a food processor and poof, you have a sweet and creamy banana dessert. The cherry on top definitely makes it taste even better.
If being color corrdinated is more your theme, these homemade popsicles have your name all over it. Using a brioche pan, it is one part cranberry juice, one part lemonade and one part blue powerade. These are a bit time consuming because you have to wait an hour between each layer, but definitely a great tasting treat to celebrate Labor Day in style.
